About Production
The pamphlet is made from 100% recycled Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified uncoated 12 pt card stock. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that recycled paper "Reduces greenhouse gas emissions that can contribute to climate change by avoiding methane emissions and reducing the energy required for a number of paper products. Extends the fiber supply and contributes to carbon sequestration. Saves considerable landfill space. Reduces energy and water consumption." Why Brook Created This Product
My earliest memories have been fishing with my dad and Native family on our ancestral homelands on the Klamath River of Northern California. I have grown and loved to learn about salmon and lamprey that I prepared and ate with my dad. However, I see much of the focus on conservation around salmon. I love the salmon, but I believe lamprey, a prehistoric spineless fish that we often call an "eel," does not get enough love despite not being a real eel. They are awesome, and both the salmon and lamprey face environmental issues from climate change and man-made changes to the river and surrounding areas. I want to educate those who visit northern California about how amazing these creatures are. They are not just tasty meals but a large part of my culture, and I consider them to be extended family. If people learn more about these creatures, they will appreciate them more and hopefully help me protect them for future generations.

As an engineer and someone studying conservation as an Environmental Studies Ph.D. student, I also understand that much of the information about these fish can be overwhelming, so this guide will introduce basic knowledge and cultural understanding about these cool fish!
